About The Position

South Carolina State University is seeking a dedicated Law Enforcement Officer II to join the University Police Department. This role is for individuals committed to public safety and who believe in the power of education to transform communities. As a full-time officer, you will help maintain a safe and secure campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. You will report through the VP of Operations division.

Requirements

Current South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) certification, or eligibility to obtain certification within a defined period
High school diploma or GED
Valid South Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations
Strong written and verbal communication skills for accurate reporting and community interaction
No felony convictions and ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation

Nice To Haves

Associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field

Responsibilities

Patrolling campus grounds, buildings, and parking areas on foot and by vehicle to deter and respond to criminal activity
Responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, conducting preliminary investigations, and preparing accurate incident reports
Enforcing South Carolina state laws, university policies, and traffic regulations on campus property
Building visible, positive relationships with the campus community through consistent engagement and professional conduct
