Performs a wide variety of law enforcement functions, including but not limited to: Crime suppression, crime prevention, protection of personal liberties, regulation of non-criminal conduct, and provision of services. This role involves responding to calls for service, assisting other officers, suppressing crime through identification and apprehension of criminals, regulating non-criminal conduct, investigating traffic collisions, securing crime scenes, gathering evidence, making arrests, compiling information for prosecution, testifying in court, attending training, preparing reports, and maintaining knowledge of criminal and traffic law. Successful candidates must complete a minimum of 40 hours of annual in-service training.
