About The Position

WoodmenLife is looking to hire a Law Clerk to join our team! In this role, you will provide legal, regulatory, compliance, and administrative support to the Legal Department. Under the supervision of Department attorneys, the Law Clerk assists with legal research, contract review, governance administration, policy development, regulatory analysis, compliance initiatives, litigation support, and other efforts that support Company legal and business objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current enrollment in an accredited law school.
  • Successful completion of at least the first year of law school.
  • Demonstrated legal research and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and analyze complex information and present findings clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work products.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a professional environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and legal research tools.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and business partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional relationship-building skills.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Performs legal and regulatory research utilizing both traditional and electronic research resources.
  • Assists attorneys with the preparation of legal memoranda, draft opinions, presentations, and other written work products.
  • Supports contract review, organization, and administration activities.
  • Assists with the development, review, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and governance documents.
  • Assists with regulatory tracking, monitoring, and analysis of legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Provides support for compliance, privacy, AI governance, anti-fraud, and other regulatory initiatives.
  • Assists with litigation management, discovery support, document collection, and related legal proceedings.
  • Gathers, organizes, and analyzes information relevant to legal matters, projects, investigations, and business initiatives.
  • Maintains legal files, databases, and departmental records.
  • Handles confidential and highly sensitive information in a privileged and professional manner.
  • Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality in accordance with Company policy and departmental requirements.
  • Performs other duties and special projects assigned.
