About The Position

The Law Clerk supports attorneys and litigation teams by conducting legal research, assisting with drafting legal documents, and contributing to case development efforts. This role provides hands‑on experience within a fast‑paced, trial‑focused law firm environment and plays a key role in strengthening case strategy through research, analysis, and factual investigation. The Law Clerk works under the supervision of licensed attorneys and collaborates closely with legal staff to ensure high‑quality work product and efficient case progression. This role is typically part‑time during the academic year or full‑time during the summer. Work is performed under attorney supervision and does not involve independent legal practice. Strict adherence to confidentiality, ethical obligations, and attorney‑client privilege is required.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an ABA‑accredited law school (required).
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce high‑quality work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of at least one year of law school (preferred).
  • Prior legal internship, externship, or clerkship experience preferred.
  • Exposure to litigation or legal research strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys with legal research, writing, and case preparation.
  • Assist in developing factual records and identifying key legal issues.
  • Contribute to drafting memoranda, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Partner with litigation teams to ensure timely and accurate case support.
  • Gain practical exposure to litigation processes and legal strategy while supporting Bad Faith matters.
  • Conduct legal research using primary and secondary legal sources.
  • Perform detailed and complex legal research; prepare legal memoranda to support attorneys in case strategy.
  • Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, demand letters, subpoenas, and correspondence for attorney review.
  • Draft correspondence to adjusters, clients, and opposing counsel.
  • Assist attorneys with drafting motions, demand letters, subpoenas, and discovery documents.
  • Assist with discovery tasks, including document review, issue spotting, and preparing responses.
  • Review and organize client claim files and case materials, including medical records, discovery, and evidence.
  • Perform file management to ensure documents are properly maintained, organized, and accessible.
  • Maintain client correspondence to provide case updates and gather missing or necessary information.
  • Assist with case investigation, including reviewing documents and summarizing findings.
  • Analyze case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to assigned matters.
  • Support preparation for trial and depositions, including document preparation and coordination.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff on active litigation matters.
  • Perform general legal administrative and case support tasks as assigned, including additional duties in support of the Bad Faith team.
