About The Position

The Law Clerk position offers the opportunity to apply and enhance the knowledge and skills gained in law school by actively engaging in the service of the firm's clients. This position involves in-depth work with legal documents, including their review, management and drafting all under the direct supervision of a lawyer.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, legal practices and legal documents.
  • Knowledge of how to conduct legal research.
  • Knowledge of legal writing style and format.
  • Knowledge of legal analysis.
  • Strong reading and writing skills.
  • Deductive and inductive reasoning abilities.
  • Self-management ability
  • Conscientiousness, ability to travel as needed, ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Enrolled in accredited law school program to receive an advanced degree, such as J.D. or LL.B., with intention of graduating.
  • 1 Year of Experience
  • Participation on a law journal or in moot court.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and evaluate findings
  • Interpret laws and regulations
  • Manage legal documents
  • Review and compare legal documents
  • Summarize legal documents
  • Draft documents, legal memoranda and legal briefs
  • Perform due diligence
  • Conduct document reviews
  • Confer with senior associates and partners on a variety of issues
  • Collaborate with legal assistants to assemble work products
  • Attend conference calls and client meetings
  • Manage consistently changing responsibilities
  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties
  • Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner
  • Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product
  • Successfully meet deadlines, expectations, and perform work duties as required
  • Foster positive work relationships
  • Comply with all firm policies and practices
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as needed
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Perform all other duties, tasks or projects as assigned
