About The Position

The Litigation Support Team at Leidos, currently supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, DC, has an opening for a Law Clerk to perform litigation support duties. This role involves assisting the U.S. Department of Justice in achieving its mission. Typical assignments include performing complex legal research for trial staff, assisting in the preparation of draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, and memoranda of law, and aiding in the drafting of Program’s decisions, which often form the foundation for subsequent administrative and judicial review. The role also requires reviewing documents for relevance and privilege, conducting research in applicable statutory, regulatory, and case law, and demonstrating the ability to discern relevant issues in complex fact patterns. The Law Clerk will assist attorneys with all phases of litigation.

Requirements

  • Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study or, an equivalent level of legal training or experience or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.
  • Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a Government and/or Litigation Support environment in conjunction with basic qualifications, preferred.
  • Experience with Relativity, helpful and should be referenced within resume, if applicable.
  • Trial experience very helpful.
  • Experience with (or an interest in) informal adjudications under an agency’s enabling act and regulations.
  • Experience handling large volume of cases or claims, strongly preferred.
  • Current or active clearance.
