About The Position

The Laundry Department supports the facility’s cleanliness, safety, and sanitation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards and facility direction. The role helps ensure an adequate supply of linen is available to meet residents’ needs. It follows work and cleaning schedules, coordinates routine laundry services with nursing services in resident living areas, and handles waste, cleaning products, and safety precautions according to facility procedures.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Friendly attitude and excellent communication skills required.
• Ability to communicate adequately in writing and orally, including effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families, and staff.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a healthcare environment in Environmental Services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow work and cleaning schedules as closely as practical.
• Clean walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, and waxed floors according to department procedures and schedules.
• Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
• Dispose of trash and waste, including biohazardous waste and materials requiring special handling, according to facility policies and procedures.
• Post signs to identify safety hazards when housekeeping activities create environmental hazards for staff, residents, visitors, or others.
• Use personal protective equipment when at risk of exposure to blood or other potentially hazardous body fluids and whenever facility policies require it.
• Follow safety instructions and procedures when using chemical substances; consult labels and Material Safety Data Sheets for instructions.
• Keep chemicals and cleaning supplies in their original containers.
• Ask a supervisor for assistance when unsure of proper handling techniques.
