Our Laundry Workers play a vital role in our skilled nursing facility by ensuring residents always have clean linens, clothing, and towels, which directly impacts their comfort and dignity. Their work also supports infection control by helping prevent the spread of germs through proper handling and sanitation of fabrics. Behind the scenes, they keep daily operations running smoothly so caregivers can focus on resident care. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • The ability to acquire additional sufficient knowledge and learn new skills through on-the-job training and instructions to satisfactorily meet job performance requirements.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional laundry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Follow community’s policies and procedures for handling, storing, processing, and transporting linen and residents’ personal laundry.
  • Complies with infection control requirements of the laundry and uses appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies, as necessary.
  • Establishes and adheres to laundry schedule to ensure adequate supply of clean laundry is available in all required areas. Assigns schedules/duties for laundry team members as appropriate.
  • Sorts and loads laundry as designated.
  • Washes linen, clothing and other items and records weights for each load.
  • Irons linen and clothing.
  • Reads labels on personal laundry prior to washing.
  • Reports any damaged or lost clothing articles to the supervisor. Arranges for repairs and/or replacements, as necessary.
  • Ensures residents’ garments are properly labeled and labels items, as appropriate.
  • Manages inventory of linen supply and reports shortages to the supervisor.
