Requirements

  • No High School Diploma and/or No GED Required
  • less than 1 year No previous work-related experience
  • Knowledge of clothing cleaning needs
  • Knowledge of laundry room equipment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to wash, dry and pack laundry
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to use judgement to determine cleaning needs

Responsibilities

  • Sorts linen and uniforms and determines whether each piece goes into the tumbler or ironer.
  • Folds garment or feeds through sheet folder and stores in appropriate storage area.
  • Ensures each department receives the appropriate linens.
  • Observes operation of machines and reports minor adjustments or malfunctioning to supervisor.
  • Marks new linen and clothes as assigned.
  • Promotes positive interpersonal (customer) relationships with fellow employees, physicians, patients and visitors.
  • Treats these individuals with courtesy, dignity, empathy and respect; consistently displays courteous and respectful verbal and non-verbal communications.
  • Ensures confidentiality of patient information by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment by not sharing information learned on the job, except when necessary in the performance of the job responsibilities or to improve a patient’s care.
