About The Position

This position involves washing and drying residents' clothes, ensuring prompt return to owners. The role requires proper identification of residents' clothing and reporting any losses or damages. Responsibilities include removing non-launderable items from wash loads, and potentially inventorying and delivering linens, folding clothing protectors, maintaining quotas, labeling clothing and other items, and managing the donation closet. The Laundry Worker is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and attractiveness of their assigned area, promoting sanitary conditions to prevent infection, and ensuring equipment is clean and in working order, reporting any issues to the supervisor. Additionally, the role requires maintaining appropriate records of residents' clothing processed, managing supply levels, and notifying the supervisor of any deficiencies or needs. All job functions must be performed in adherence to department and facility policies and procedures. Other laundry-related duties may be assigned by the Textile Care Supervisor, including inventorying and delivering daily linens and maintaining Clean Linen Rooms. The position may also require assisting the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Requirements

  • Understanding of standard procedures used in laundry services for residents and in caring for clothes, linens, equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Wash and dry residents clothes returning them promptly to the owners.
  • Ensure that residents’ clothes are properly identified and report losses and damages of residents’ laundry.
  • Remove non-launderable items from wash load.
  • Inventory and deliver linens.
  • Fold clothing protectors and maintain quota on units.
  • Label clothing and other items as well as maintaining donation closet.
  • Maintain assigned area of the facility in a clean and attractive appearance.
  • Promote sanitary conditions to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Ensure that equipment is kept clean and in working order.
  • Report any problems with equipment to Supervisor.
  • Maintain appropriate records of residents clothing processed.
  • Maintain levels of supplies utilized to effectively process workload.
  • Notify supervisor of deficiencies or needs.
  • Perform all functions of job by adhering to department and facility policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties associated with laundry as assigned by Textile Care Supervisor.
  • Inventory and deliver daily linens as well as maintain Clean Linen Rooms.
  • Assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
