About The Position

This position serves as a representative of Brett/Robinson, requiring courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions. The Laundry Tunnel Operator is responsible for operating the tunnel control station, directing the entire laundry process from initial load through wash, extraction, and transfer to drying. This role involves programming and adjusting wash formulas, water levels, temperatures, and chemical injection rates based on fabric type and soil level. The operator must monitor gauges and indicators to ensure the tunnel system operates correctly, coordinate the flow of articles, and direct other laundry staff to maintain smooth production. Identifying and reporting equipment malfunctions, maintaining production records, and performing general laundry tasks as needed are also key responsibilities. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and maintaining a clean work environment.

Requirements

Perform physical activities that require moving one's whole body, such as bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling and squatting.
Able to lift 40 lbs. on a regular basis
Able to stand in excess of 7 hours during a regular shift
Match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness
Make quick, coordinated and repeated movements with fingers, hands, and wrists.

Responsibilities

Serves as a representative of Brett/Robinson, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other employees of Brett/Robinson, owners, guests, and other members of the community
Operates the tunnel control station, directing the laundry process from initial load through wash, extraction, and transfer to drying
Programs and adjusts wash formulas, water levels, temperatures, and chemical injection rates according to fabric type and soil level
Watches gauges, dials, digital displays, and other indicators to ensure the tunnel system is operating properly
Coordinates the flow of articles through the tunnel system, adjusting speed and sequencing to maintain continuous production
Directs loaders, sorters, and dryer operators to keep production moving smoothly from station to station
Identifies equipment malfunctions, jams, or irregularities, and promptly reports mechanical issues to the Laundry Manager or maintenance
Maintains accurate production records, including load counts, chemical usage, and cycle times
Cleans machine filters and lint traps, and keeps the tunnel station, floor, and surrounding equipment clean
Shares in general laundry production tasks as needed, including sorting, loading and unloading, folding, and pressing articles
Examines and sorts articles to be cleaned into lots, according to color, fabric, dirt content, and cleaning technique required
Reports safety hazards
Performs other duties as assigned
