About The Position

The Laundry Technician ensures a clean, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents by efficiently collecting, sorting, laundering, and distributing facility linens and personal clothing. In a memory care and assisted living environment, this role requires strict adherence to infection control protocols, specialized handling of sensitive fabrics, and a compassionate approach to resident dignity.

Requirements

  • Experience with various cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate with staff and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members.
  • 18 years or older.
  • Maintain tactful composure and confidentiality with residents, family members, staff and visitors.
  • A genuine desire to improve the quality of life for seniors.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience working in housekeeping or laundry in a medical facility.

Responsibilities

  • Collect soiled linens and personal clothing daily from resident rooms and designated drop-off points.
  • Sort items by fabric, color, and soil level, specifically identifying articles that require specialized stain treatment or delicate handling.
  • Operate commercial-grade washers and dryers according to established sanitation and thermal disinfection protocols.
  • Properly measure and dispense detergents, bleaches, and softeners.
  • Fold, hang, and organize clean laundry.
  • Promptly return clean, wrinkle-free personal clothing to individual resident closets and drawers to promote independence and dignity.
  • Restock clean linens on floor units.
  • Ensure that clothing is systematically labeled or tagged to prevent loss for memory care residents.
  • Change and launder linens and clothing immediately whenever they become soiled or wet.
  • Keep the laundry area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Regularly clean machine filters, drums, and surrounding surfaces to prevent lint buildup and maintain safety.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to facility management.
  • Strictly comply with universal precautions, HIPAA regulations, and state/federal health regulations regarding the handling of soiled versus clean materials.
  • Use assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
