About The Position

This is a full-time, 2nd shift position in the laundry department, operating from 3pm to 11pm. Applicants should expect to be included in a weekend rotation. The role involves washing garments and linens using an electrically powered washing machine, transferring items to the dryer, and then hanging or folding them for distribution to resident rooms. Duties also include performing tasks as assigned by the laundry supervisor.

Requirements

Must be able to read, write and follow instructions.
Must have knowledge of commercial laundry processes, equipment and procedures for both washing and ironing materials.

Nice To Haves

High School Education preferred but not required.
Some laundry experience desired but not necessary.

Responsibilities

Washes garments and linens in an electrically powered washing machine.
Adjusts valves to admit water of the proper temperature.
Adds soap solution, starts the drum rolling, and stops the machine after washing and rinsing.
Transfers washed articles from washer to dryer and to baskets for distribution.
Hangs finished garments on hangers or folds and stacks garments.
Distributes clothes to Resident’s rooms.
Performs duties as assigned by laundry supervisor.
Washes laundry in a manner that will not damage either the machine or garments.
Washes contaminated linens separately if necessary.
Avoids overloading machines.
Reports malfunctions of equipment.
