About The Position

The Laundry Personnel is responsible for collecting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing laundry for residents. This role involves operating laundry equipment, maintaining cleanliness of the laundry area and equipment, managing inventory, and adhering to infection control standards. The position requires coordination with nursing staff and residents to ensure laundry needs are met.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in laundry services, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., push/pull 30 lbs., and move frequently throughout the day
Strong attention to detail, patience, and ability to follow housekeeping and infection control guidelines
Ability to work regular shifts, including weekends and holidays
Knowledge of household and industrial laundry equipment and chemical use

Responsibilities

Pick up soiled laundry from resident rooms and other areas.
Sort laundry by color, fabric type, and cleaning method.
Operate washing machines and dryers.
Wash garments and linens according to fabric type and contamination level, using correct detergent and temperature settings.
Wash contaminated linens separately if necessary.
Fold, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry to resident rooms or storage areas.
Ensure proper labeling of resident clothing.
Clean and maintain laundry equipment, including replacing filters.
Keep work areas clean and safe.
Monitor linen and laundry supply levels and request additional supplies as needed.
Follow universal precautions, handle soiled laundry safely, and prevent cross-contamination.
Coordinate with nursing staff and residents to address laundry needs or concerns.
