About The Position

This role involves the collection, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distribution of linens, towels, and residents' personal clothing. The position requires maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to infection control standards, and properly labeling personal items to prevent loss. On-the-job training is provided.

Requirements

• Must have an understanding of standard procedures used in laundry services for patients and in caring for clothes, linens, equipment and supplies.
• Has an interest in learning, ability to cooperate and is willing to work under supervision.
• Must have the ability to work well with co-workers.

Nice To Haves

• High School diploma preferred.
• Previous experience preferable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Gather dirty linens, towels, and residents' personal clothing.
• Sort items by fabric type, color, and degree of soil, separating items that need special stain treatment.
• Load industrial washers and dryers, add proper amounts of detergent or bleach, and operate equipment safely.
• Fold clean items, stack them neatly, and deliver fresh linens or labeled personal clothes back to resident rooms or storage areas.
• Mark new resident clothing and personal items with identifying names or barcodes to prevent loss.
• Clean and disinfect laundry equipment and work areas daily.
• Follow infection control standards and universal precautions when handling soiled items.
• Perform other assigned duties from supervisor.
