About The Position

This position manages the institutional laundry operations at the Lunenburg Correctional Center. The role involves supervising inmate workers, responding to inmate complaints, developing and revising laundry operating procedures, and performing or directing maintenance on laundry equipment. The Laundry Manager is also responsible for tool and chemical control, inventory management, and providing budgetary input for the laundry operation.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of laundering methods.
  • Basic knowledge of repairs and routine maintenance on equipment used in the laundry operation.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, pull, lift, reach, turn, climb stairs and ladders; hear, see, write, count, read, speak, interpret policies.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of the methods of accountability.
  • Problem solving ability.
  • Ability to supervise other workers.
  • Knowledge of building/equipment repairs.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a motor vehicle and moving/motorized equipment.
  • Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer and operate both hand and power tools.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
  • Working knowledge of equipment repairs in order to be able to make minor repairs and perform routine maintenance on equipment used in the laundry operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan work schedules and supervise the work of others.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the institutional laundry operations.
  • Documenting work performed daily in the laundry.
  • Supervising inmate workers.
  • Researching and responding to inmate complaints regarding the laundry operation.
  • Writing laundry operating instructions and revising procedures as needed.
  • Performing or directing maintenance services by repairing and performing preventive maintenance on laundry equipment.
  • Ensuring tool and chemical control of items used in the laundry operation.
  • Providing inventory management and budgetary input regarding current and projected expenditures for wages, supplies, equipment, and equipment repair/replacement associated with the laundry operation.
