About The Position

A laundry custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency of laundry equipment and the laundry area. This includes daily cleaning of washers and dryers, emptying and cleaning lint traps, and ensuring all equipment is in proper working order. The role also involves ironing and folding various linens, operating laundry machinery, maintaining a clean work area, and assisting other departments as needed. Adherence to company values, policies, and safety regulations is crucial.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior laundry service, housekeeping, or custodial experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of laundry operations and equipment use.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20–50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of OSHA, infection control, and safety regulations.

  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Use step ladder (climb up to 15 feet).

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize washers and dryers after each use.
  • Remove and clean lint filters from dryers, and empty lint from drains.
  • Perform weekly thorough cleaning of the entire laundry area and equipment.
  • Regularly inspect and clean lint traps to prevent blockages and ensure safe operation of dryers.
  • Report any lint trap damage or malfunction to supervisors promptly.
  • Load and unload washers and dryers as directed, separating and sorting linens and clothing.
  • Operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently, using only approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Keep the laundry area clean, organized, and tidy at all times.
  • Follow all health, safety, and infection control policies, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Record laundry activities, equipment usage, and any maintenance issues.
  • Report technical or mechanical problems to management promptly.
  • Assist housekeeping or laundry staff as needed, especially during peak times.
  • Maintain proper care and economical use of resources.
  • Iron sheets, pillow cases, table cloths, napkins, and table skirting.
  • Fold sheets, pillow cases, table linen, napkins, and all terry.
  • Operate washers, dryers, presser, and towel folder.
  • Report any damaged or stained housekeeping linens or banquet linen.
  • Remove trash and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain proper deference to Management and Supervisors.
  • Adhere to regulatory, departmental and casino policies and procedures.
