About The Position

The laundry attendant is responsible for ensuring that all laundry services for hotel guests are performed according to the hotel's standard policies. This includes laundry collection from guest rooms, dry-cleaning, washing, drying, pressing, and folding of guest laundry, as well as other hotel linen.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in similar capacities; hotels, is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy and demanding work environment.
  • Ability to work with commercial cleaning chemicals.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and guests.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety-related procedures while performing all tasks.
  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards is essential to the successful performance of this position.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including Weekday, Evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Standing and walking for an entire shift.
  • Perform repetitive motions, bending, stretching, reaching, stooping, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for picking up and delivery of in-house guest laundry.
  • Responsible to collect and deliver outside guest laundry / dry cleaning.
  • Responsible for delivering all guest items punctually, accurately, and in a professional and courteous way.
  • Collect laundry and dry cleaning bags from guest rooms and ensure that guest name, room number and laundry pieces are listed.
  • Count and verify all items collected as per laundry price lists / laundry sheet signed by the guest and note down any discrepancy or damages on the same sheet.
  • Check all items for damage or stains and take appropriate action to rectify these issues.
  • Report immediately to superiors in case any valuable items like cash, jewellery, credit cards etc. are found in guests' cloth pockets.
  • Responsible to process guests' clothing on the correct equipment / machines using the appropriate chemicals and temperature.
  • Once processed, neatly fold or hang the clothing as requested by the guest on the laundry sheet.
  • Shake wet sheets, table linens and napkins prior to ironing in order to spread them out.
  • Responsible to feed washed linens and napkins into ironer or folder or calender machine.
  • Retrieve folded linens and stack or hang clean linens as appropriate.
  • Sort clean towels, rugs and robes.
  • Use towel folder and manual folding for bath towels, washcloths, rugs and robes.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of dryers and sort out washed laundry items.
  • Operate and maintain folding equipment, presser and iron.
  • Operate and maintain washer, dryer, dry cleaning machine etc.
  • Report any technical problems or deficiencies to the Laundry manager or maintenance team.
  • Place folded product on the appropriate rack.
  • Assist in inventories and attend all departmental training as informed and scheduled by the manager.
  • Follow proper hotel safety policies and procedures and use safety equipment as needed to ensure the safety of all team members during each shift.
  • Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Ensure work area is clean and clear of standing water, debris or any objects that can obstruct the job duties from being performed safely, efficiently and effectively.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including Weekday, Evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
