Requirements

• No formal education necessary.
• Previous experience in laundry area is desirable
• Must have a basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, of the use of cleaning products, and of the operation of cleaning equipment.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or written instructions and be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Excellent vision required; emphasis on cleanliness standards and quality control.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. of linen; pushing up to 75 lbs. of linen; pulling up to 75 lbs. of linen; carrying up to 50 lbs. of linen.
• Must be able to bend frequently during the loading/unloading of washers/dryers, sorting of linen, and folding.
• Must be able to work with arms raised overhead during the course of the work shift.
• Must be able to continuously move throughout the department.
• Standing for prolonged periods -100% of shift.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort soiled linen into appropriate containers following all safety practices.
• Process sorted linen utilizing washers, dryers, and ironers ensuring the finished product is inspected and meets quality standards.
• Inspect linen on a regular basis for tears, holes, or below standard conditions and remove from inventory.
• Maintain assigned work area in clean and safe condition.
• Empty lint traps after each load to ensure safety of equipment and building.
• Notify supervisor of equipment malfunctions, needed supplies, damaged linen to ensure laundry operation runs at maximum efficiency.
• Ensure linen carts are stored and prepared for delivery to guest room floors.
