Requirements

• Grade 12 minimum education.
• Two years or more of experience, preferably in a health care setting.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Capability to adapt to different situations and change.
• Keen interest in working with seniors.
• Awareness of employee responsibilities and adherence to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to work safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents.
• Alertness to and prompt reporting of all actual or potentially hazardous situations to the immediate supervisor.
• Not operating or using faulty equipment.
• Wearing personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or company policy.
• Promptly reporting personal injury to the supervisor and seeking first aid as needed.
• Participation in fire safety demonstrations and fire drills, and knowledge of the home's fire and disaster plan.
• Continued employment is dependent upon participation in annual training programs (WHMIS, Fire Drills, Resident Abuse, CPR, Safe Food Handling, Infection Control, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Sort, wash, dry, and fold laundry, following established laundry procedures.
• Store and deliver linens, towels, and personal clothing.
• Remove lint from lint filters following each drying cycle.
• Observe the operation of machines and report any malfunctioning to the ESM (Environmental Services Manager).
• Clean laundry equipment, tubs, floors, and the laundry area.
• Notify ESM when supplies are low.
