The Laundry Attendant is responsible for performing laundry functions in a friendly, courteous manner, in alignment with quality service standards, to create a safe, secure, and inviting environment for residents, families, and team members, while upholding MBK principles and core values.

Requirements

  • Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly from different backgrounds and with different cognitive, physical, and emotional well-being levels.
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to work in an environment where exposure to unpleasant odors, blood, and/or bodily fluids, with potential exposure to hazardous waste or infectious diseases, and continuous exposure to residents who may be ill, confused, or having unpleasant days.
  • Ability to provide housekeeping and laundry services in a resident-centered environment, which meets or exceeds quality service standards.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must complete required Background clearances, health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment (must be within the last 6 months).
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak, write, and read English, and be able to follow spoken and written directions.
  • Must possess the ability to always deal tactfully and professionally with personnel, residents, family members, and guests.
  • Must possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work semi-independently without direct supervision, perform tasks with frequent interruptions, and show initiative by completing assigned tasks following community procedures and guidelines.
  • Must present a positive and professional image.
  • Must not be considered an "Excluded Party" as defined by the Medicare and state Medicaid Programs as well as other federal and state government contract programs.
  • Must be in compliance with certain laws and regulations that affect the company, including but not limited to Resident Rights, HIPAA, State licensing regulations, and those laws relating to an associates’ professional license.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), preferred.
  • 1+ years of prior related work experience functioning in a similar role, within a similar industry/work environment, preferred; on-the-job training is available for candidates with the right attitude and aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Follow work schedules and coordinate daily laundry services with housekeeping services when performing assignments in resident living areas.
  • Collect, clean, and redistribute the community laundry and resident clothing.
  • Follow approved laundry procedures to properly sort, wash, dry linens and resident clothing, and fold, count, and stack linens.
  • Transport supplies to include clean and soiled linen to the appropriate storage and collection areas.
  • Inspect linens routinely for wear and tears, identifying worn and torn linens and following the company’s standard operating procedure (SOP) for damaged linens.
  • Maintain the commercial and residential laundry rooms in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.
  • Maintain communication with the Supervisor regarding the inventory of products and services to meet service standards.
  • Ensure cleaning chemicals are kept stored and locked when not in use.
  • Ensure cords, carts, equipment, and other hazards are kept out of the way, not blocking exits, and in compliance with fire codes.
  • Always practice safety procedures, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests following established safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with Federal, State, and local regulations, and company policies and procedures concerning the department.
  • Promote and lead with a spirit of teamwork and open communication through consistent mentoring, coaching, and recognition program utilization, in alignment with MBK principles and core values.
  • Perform other job duties or special projects as assigned or requested by the Supervisor.
