About The Position

The mission of Lake Junaluska is to be a place of Christian hospitality where lives are transformed through renewal of soul, mind and body. This role is responsible for managing the laundry process, ensuring cleanliness and organization of all linens and towels, and maintaining the laundry area. Key responsibilities include operating washing machines and dryers, folding laundry, maintaining inventory of cleaning chemicals, cleaning the laundry area and equipment, and responding to inquiries from hotel locations. The position requires a commitment to safety, proper handling of chemicals, and maintaining a professional appearance.

Requirements

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma.
  • A minimum of 1 year relevant experience.

  • Ability to pull laundry that sometimes tangles/wads from carts and machines.
  • Ability to work in warm temperatures.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule; evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving dirty laundry in carts and loading washing machines with materials, keeping items separate and organized (e.g., whites/colors, sheets/towels, by building of origin).
  • Programming washing machines and selecting the correct cycle for the desired outcome.
  • Unloading wet items from machines into carts.
  • Loading and unloading dryers.
  • Taking laundry to folding tables, folding items neatly, and organizing them by type.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance, including wearing a clean, pressed uniform and practicing good hygiene.
  • Checking inventories of chemicals and communicating with the supervisor when ordering is necessary.
  • Keeping the laundry area clean, dusted, and mopped.
  • Cleaning lint traps daily.
  • Answering calls and inquiries from hotel locations on campus.
  • Scrubbing, disinfecting, and deodorizing all laundry carts daily.
  • Complying with all safety policies, practices, and procedures and reporting any unsafe activities or conditions.
  • Immediately reporting any damaged, non-properly functioning, or unsafe machinery or working condition to the supervisor and/or Director.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.
