This is a Laundry Assistant opportunity. This is a Full-time Days / AM shift position, scheduled 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. - 40 hours per week - Includes every other weekend rotation. Prior Housekeeping / Laundry experience is preferred. The role is eligible for all the great benefits offered by Good Samaritan / Sanford Health! The primary function is to perform day to day tasks to maintain a clean environment in a health care organization. This involves working independently or in a team environment ensuring the safe and appropriate handling of laundry, including sorting, washing, chemical application, and water temperature management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to use a computer.
- Prior cleaning experience in a healthcare setting is helpful.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, and methods used in cleaning is helpful.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record (depending on location).

Responsibilities
- Complete assigned tasks based on the location's standard processes and policies.
- Follow infection prevention guidelines for handling contaminated laundry according to organizational and healthcare industrial laundry standards.
- Participate in laundry collection and sorting.
- Properly handle, store, and distribute clean laundry based on the location's standard processes and policies.
- Collect dirty linens (including gowns, sheets, towels, blankets, and personal clothing) from wards, rooms, and medical offices.
- Distribute clean and disinfected linens.
- Wash, dry, and fold linens.
- Sort and fold clothing.
- Complete the proper labeling process for the designated health care organization.
- Store and secure laundry supplies and equipment.
- Use or wear all proper protective equipment (PPE) as outlined in the location's standard processes and policies.
