About The Position

Powers Health is hiring a Laundry Assistant in Munster, Indiana. Under the direction of the Environmental Services Director, the role supports a clean, attractive, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and hospital staff. The assistant performs cleaning and environmental services duties in assigned areas and maintains environmental services equipment.

Requirements

• Ability to read written instructions and understand verbal instructions in English.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic cleaning in assigned areas in accordance with Joint Commission on Accreditation Standards.
• Sweep, mop, strip, scrub, refinish, vacuum, and spot-clean floors.
• Clean and polish surfaces, including vertical and horizontal surfaces.
• Collect and transport medical waste and clean or dirty linen.
• Clean windows, change window treatments and cubicle curtains, and wash walls.
• Maintain environmental services equipment, including floor scrubbers and vacuum cleaners.
• Clean and disinfect patient rooms during hospital stays and after discharge.
• Report pests such as rodents and insects to the maintenance department.
• Restock sanitation products in assigned areas.
• Move furniture or heavy objects to create pathways for cleaning.
