About The Position

The Laundry Aide is responsible for issuing, storing, tracking and laundering personal and house linens. This role involves collecting, sorting, and weighing soiled laundry, washing and drying it according to procedures, and then folding, counting, and delivering clean resident laundry. The Laundry Aide also maintains adequate daily linen supplies, keeps the work area clean and sanitary, assists with training new staff, and completes all required training.

Requirements

• High school graduate or HSE preferred
• Prior relevant experience preferred
• Basic computer skills required
• Able to write legibly, takes oral and written instruction well
• Able to complete basic math calculations accurately
• Has demonstrated knowledge of appropriate skills for communicating with individuals of all ages, especially the elderly or geriatric population

Responsibilities

• Collects, sorts, and weighs soiled laundry and places it in the appropriate containers, including removing soiled laundry to the designated soiled linen room
• Washes and dries laundry in accordance with procedures
• Folds, counts and delivers resident clean laundry to the residents and/or their closets or linen closets
• Maintains adequate daily linen supplies in closets on the units and notifies department coordinator of supply needs
• Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner
• Assists with the training and orientation of new laundry aides
• Completes all required training and in-services
• All other duties as assigned
