The Laundry Aide provides and maintains an adequate linen supply to all areas of the hospital. Retrieves and transports soiled linen to designated linen service collection area. Maintains accurate linen inventory levels in the Linen Room and in the departments serviced. Orders linen daily based on patient census. Operates computer system to enter linen usage. Keeps accurate record of linen issued and returned. Adjusts daily par levels with the linen service company via fax or phone. Assists customers with usage needs; adjusts par levels accordingly. Receives clean linen. Checks linen exchange carts and bulk order for accuracy. Reports discrepancies to the linen service. Identifies and tags broken or defective linen carts for return to the laundry service. Distributes clean linen to departments serviced. Delivers special request linen to requesting area. Linen carts are to be always covered (either with sheet or in plastic). Retrieves soiled linen following OSHA Blood borne Pathogen Standards. Ensures all linen in chute room is placed in soiled linen carts prior to transport. Recovers soiled linen from specialty areas. Transports soiled linen carts to designated linen service holding area. Maintains a clean, organized work area providing an efficient and safe work environment. Compiles, prints and delivers end of month linen report. Combines information from computer and Accounts Payable to produce this report. Attends various education programs. Issues supplies/equipment to all areas of the hospital. Assists in stock replacement for the distribution area. Other duties as assigned.
