About The Position

DeRidder Retirement & Rehabilitation is seeking an energetic Laundry Aide for a part-time position. This role is crucial for ensuring residents live in a home with clean and fresh linen. The ideal candidate is flexible, willing to help where needed, conscientious about following policies and procedures, and takes pride in their work.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must have an understanding of standard procedures used in laundry services for residents and in caring for clothes, linens, equipment and supplies.
  • Has an interest in learning, ability to cooperate, and is willing to work under supervision.
  • Must work scheduled hours.
  • Must have a pre-employment and an annual Tuberculosis screening examination.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience preferable but not essential.
  • Worker receives on-the-job training with supervision.
  • Has a genuine interest in working with geriatrics.

Responsibilities

  • Wash and dry linen and residents' clothes.
  • Ensure all clean linen is returned to the linen storage area promptly.
  • Promptly return residents' clothes to owners, ensuring they are properly identified.
  • Report losses and damages of residents' laundry.
  • Remove lint from tumblers and clean laundry area.
  • Maintain an inventory of linens and laundry supplies.
  • Execute duties under the direction and supervision of the Laundry Department supervisor, the Director of Nursing and/or the Administrator.
  • Handle soiled, dirty laundry.
  • Perform repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
  • Work well with co-workers.
  • Maintain laundry area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Work under close supervision, performing routine, standardized tasks.
  • Attend required staff in-services, meetings, orientation, and continuing education activities.
  • Adhere to Patient’s Bill of Rights and confidentiality of patient information including HIPAA regulations.
  • Interact with patients and family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staff in a non-judgmental, supportive and calm manner.
  • Wash, dry and fold linens and place in linen closets.
  • Wash, dry and fold residents' clothes and return promptly to owners.
  • Ensure residents' clothes are properly identified and labeled.
  • Check residents' laundry to ensure items are washable.
  • Keep soiled laundry away from clean laundry.
  • Keep laundry off the floor.
  • Practice economy in the use of supplies and equipment.
  • Clean filters and replace in washing machines after each load.
  • Remove lint from dryer filter after each load is dried.
  • Perform routine cleaning of all equipment.
  • Report low inventory of laundry supplies to the Administrator.
  • Report any broken or defective equipment promptly to the Administrator.
  • Do not overload equipment.
  • Check linen storage to ensure an adequate amount of linen is available for resident care.
  • Fold any clean laundry left by another shift and return to the proper location.
  • Continuously wash soiled linens and dry laundry, returning to the proper location to complete all laundry and have it available for use.
