Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, dependability, and teamwork.
  • Willingness to work cooperatively with residents, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours based on facility needs.
  • Must maintain a neat, professional appearance and adhere to uniform requirements.
  • Must attend required training programs and New York State Department of Health in-services.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to pass required health screenings, including annual physical examinations and PPD testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous housekeeping or laundry experience in a nursing home, healthcare, or hospital setting is desirable, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, dry, fold, sort, and distribute resident clothing and facility linens.
  • Ensure adequate linen supplies are available throughout the facility.
  • Label and maintain resident clothing to ensure items are properly identified and returned.
  • Sort soiled linens and clothing into appropriate wash loads.
  • Inspect clothing and linens for repairs, missing labels, or damage and follow appropriate procedures.
  • Stock and deliver linen carts to resident care units.
  • Maintain laundry equipment and monitor laundry chemical levels, reporting any concerns to supervisors.
  • Keep laundry and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, and infection control practices.
  • Attend required in-service training and staff meetings.
  • Assist with housekeeping duties as needed to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents.
  • Support the overall safety, security, and well-being of residents.
