Well-made vehicle electronics will make or break a mission. As an Avionics Integration Technician your role will be a fundamental part of the production process for the avionics system from end-to-end. You will be responsible for the delicate work of producing custom wire harnesses, electronic, and electromechanical assemblies to the exacting specifications required. Your work does not stop after assembly and will also be responsible for performing functional tests, then installing your products on flight and test vehicles. You will be a leader and act as the final check on engineering designs – your feedback will be invaluable as we create a functioning space economy.

Requirements

  • 3+ year experience in an aerospace, automotive, medical, or equivalent environment
  • Ability to review and execute work instructions
  • Rigorous attention to detail
  • Must be willing to travel flexibly based on fluctuating business demand and project pipelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with configuration-controlled drawings, specifications, and as-built configuration
  • Comfortable with the tooling and processes around aerospace grade wiring harnesses and be comfortable operating and maintaining both hand and automatic harnessing tools
  • Soldering and or PCBA rework experience
  • Familiar working in an ESD protected area
  • Familiar with FOD and tool control processes when working around integrated aircraft or spacecraft
  • Familiar with hi-pot testing and continuity testing of cable assemblies
  • Experience terminating D38999 connectors, D-SUB, and working with ETFE / PTFE cable
  • Review and author work instructions
  • Instrumentation and controls installation and operation
  • Basic command line interactions or coding (Python)

Responsibilities

  • Assemble vehicle and ground wire harnesses and electromechanical assemblies
  • Test harnesses using conventional testing methods such as continuity and hi-pot testing
  • Install components on flight vehicles and test stands
  • Perform functional tests of assemblies using bespoke test equipment
  • Monitor inventories of parts
  • Program and operate automated wire stripping, crimping, and torquing equipment
