Launch Ops Manufacturing Engineer III

Blue Origin•Space Coast, FL

About The Position

Blue Origin is seeking a Launch Ops Manufacturing Engineer to support the industrialization of new products and improve the rate and reliability of New Glenn launch infrastructure. The work includes infrastructure such as the Transporter/Erector, LC-36 Launch Pad, Mobile Test Stand, and specialized test facilities. The engineer will help develop and improve manufacturing systems, ensure quality throughout production, and optimize supply-chain and operational processes. The role works with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve production timelines. The engineer will translate engineering requirements into repeatable manufacturing processes; contribute to design for manufacturability, assembly, and test; and develop manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans. The role also supports root-cause analysis, corrective actions, process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of production lines and equipment. Work must align with applicable quality and safety standards, including AS9100 and ISO 9001. The team seeks technical depth in one or more areas including cryogenics, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems and large structures, electronics and transducers, PLCs, and software. The engineer is expected to grow into a subject-matter expert and apply safety-by-design thinking to complex, high-energy systems while contributing to innovation, reliability, and faster launch operations. The position is based in Space Coast, Florida, with relocation available. Listed shifts are A (Monday–Thursday, 6 a.m.–4:30 p.m.), B (Monday–Thursday, 2 p.m.–12:30 a.m.), C (Friday–Sunday, 6 a.m.–6:30 p.m.), and D (Friday–Sunday, 6 p.m.–6:30 a.m.). The role requires the ability to work second shift, flexibility to move shifts as needed, and willingness to work extended hours if required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, or another relevant field, from an accredited university.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering; the posting identifies 5+ years for Level III Engineer.
  • At least 1 year of experience creating English-language work instructions.
  • Must be able to work second shift and be flexible to move shifts as needed.
  • Must be open to working extended hours if required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-rate aerospace and/or automotive assembly lines.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience working with bills of materials and BOM reconciliation.
  • Prior manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or automotive.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards.
  • Technical depth in one or more of cryogenics, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems and large structures, electronics and transducers, PLCs, or software.

Responsibilities

  • Support industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures.
  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT).
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
  • Evaluate and implement manufacturing technologies and methods, including composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, and advanced assembly.
  • Support root-cause analysis of process or product non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards, including AS9100 and ISO 9001.
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
  • Identify and complete efficiency and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Develop expertise in at least one specialty area, such as solar arrays, integration and test, build flow/sequencing, avionics, or structures.
  • Drive the rate and reliability of New Glenn launch infrastructure, including the Transporter/Erector, LC-36 Launch Pad, Mobile Test Stand, and specialized test facilities.
  • Apply safety-by-design thinking to complex, high-energy systems and drive infrastructure reliability and operational improvements.
