About The Position

Great Hearts Academies is seeking passionate, life-long learners to shape students' hearts and minds as Latin Teachers for 7th-8th grades. Great Hearts is a growing network of 49 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free classical schools. We are dedicated to providing students with a high-quality, classical liberal arts education, with the highest goal of education being to become good, intellectually and morally. Latin is a core part of the curriculum at Great Hearts, studied by all students from 6th through 8th grade, and is seen as an essential foundation for understanding the Western tradition through history and culture. The role involves developing students' ability to translate original Latin texts to English through Socratic discussion.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role
• All majors are welcome
• Work Authorization Required
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

• Certification is not required for general education

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
• Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.
