About The Position

Huron Academy is currently hiring for a Part Time Latchkey/Lunch Aide. This role involves providing supervision and support for students during before and after school hours, as well as during lunch periods. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, patient, and committed to fostering a supportive atmosphere for children. Support staff are an important part of this community, working alongside teachers, families, and colleagues to assist students and help the school operate smoothly each day. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or caregiving setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to children and their families.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and maintain a positive attitude.

Nice To Haves

• Additional education in child development, education, or related fields is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during latchkey hours before school, after school, and during lunchtime, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules to maintain a respectful and orderly environment.
• Assist students with homework and schoolwork, providing support and guidance as needed.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding student behavior and any relevant issues.
• Manage conflicts and resolve issues in a calm and constructive manner, fostering a positive atmosphere.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the lunch area and latchkey program space.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings as necessary to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the position.
• Other duties as assigned
