About The Position

BBVA is a global company with over 160 years of history, operating in more than 25 countries and serving over 80 million customers. We employ over 121,000 professionals in multidisciplinary teams with diverse backgrounds including finance, legal, data science, development, engineering, and design. This role is a key leadership position within the LATAM Loan Syndicate Sales & Trading team (LSS&T). The team focuses on the underwriting, distribution, and trading of syndicated loans in both primary and secondary markets, with a specialization in LATAM Corporate Loans, Project Finance, Infrastructure, and Real Estate. LSS&T collaborates closely with teams responsible for loan origination, structuring, negotiation, and credit/portfolio management. This position is crucial for strengthening BBVA's position as a leading Lead Arranger and Bookrunner in the LATAM loan market. The Syndicate function within LSS&T serves as an analytical and advisory resource, facilitating information flow and decision-making regarding loan marketability. This involves analyzing loan markets, evaluating financing proposals, and recommending terms, conditions, and distribution strategies. For loan underwritings, the Syndicate team manages Loan Market Risk, develops underwriting proposals, and executes approved de-risking strategies. This includes providing market risk analysis (Loan Underwriting Assessment) with supporting data, liquidity analysis, comparable transaction analysis, market condition assessment, risk mitigation strategies, and distribution strategies to meet BBVA’s Sell-Down Target. The team champions transactions in internal committees (LUC) and presents them for final approval to Global Risk Management under the Loan Underwriting Framework, while also monitoring all underwritings and recording them in the Open Position Report. The Sales function within LSS&T acts as the primary liaison between BBVA and the loan investor community, which includes regional, national, and international banks, as well as institutional investors like asset and fund managers, insurance companies, and pension funds. Responsibilities include the primary distribution of loans when BBVA is the Lead Arranger and Bookrunner for Corporate Loans (IG and Mid Corp), Project Finance, Infrastructure, and Real Estate. The team also collaborates with Loan Trading & Portfolio Management on secondary market opportunities to acquire or divest loans for the bank’s portfolios. Additionally, they assist relationship managers in sourcing primary and secondary loans that can enhance the bank's client relationships and attract prospective clients. This position demands a thorough understanding of the corporate loan market (investment and non-investment grade), structured finance sectors (project finance and infrastructure), real estate, and other sectors where BBVA is active across the Americas.
