About The Position

The Laser Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC laser machines for metal fabrication. This role requires knowledge of CNC laser operation, including program retrieval, proper gases, nozzles, and lenses. The operator will also perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the machinery. Accuracy is crucial, as the operator must check work using blueprints and precision measuring tools, and accurately complete work orders. The position involves working a set schedule and potentially other duties assigned by supervisory personnel.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or equivalent and/or related experience required.
  • Ability to use Direct read measuring devices required.
  • Ability to properly document paperwork.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and obtain certification.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently.
  • Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception)
  • Sense of Sounds (Communication with personnel, ability to listen to machinery to make adjustments)
  • Sense of Touch (Use of hands to carry and move material)
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Ear protection, steel toed boots, etc)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in manufacturing engineering, fabrication management and/or operations of low and mid-sized volume metal fabrication preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate CNC laser machine
  • Knowledge and hands-on operation of CNC laser for metal fabrication including program retrieval, proper gases, proper nozzles, lenses, etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of metal fabrication process and concepts.
  • Provide routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs to CNC laser machine.
  • Setup metal fabrication machinery and other production necessities to produce "0 defect" parts.
  • Check accuracy of work using blueprints and precision measuring tools.
  • Accurately complete work orders with correct quantities of good and defective parts.
  • Work a regular schedule determined by supervisory management
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
