About The Position

Responsible for operating laser engraving equipment to accurately identify and mark various tools and inserts with correct corresponding identification numbers to ensure tooling controls are in place. This role involves cleaning and preparing tooling, ensuring proper placement of components, and utilizing inspection equipment to confirm zero defects prior to use. The technician will also confirm correct tooling identifiers with Product Engineering and attend training functions for technology updates. Maintaining a high attendance record and promoting safety awareness are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

• Prior experience using hand engraving or other mechanical tools used in a shop environment.
• Moderate Microsoft Excel skills.
• The ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings is required.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Mechanical aptitude is necessary.

Nice To Haves

• Addition training beyond the high school diploma is a plus.
• Basic shop equipment knowledge and skills preferred.
• Experience with overhead cranes and mobile equipment.
• Handling and transportation of dies.
• Experience with CAD/CAM systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate laser engraving equipment to accurately identify and mark various tools and inserts with correct corresponding identification numbers.
• Clean and prepare tooling for 2D Marking utilizing tool room die cleaning standard work.
• Ensure proper placement of components in either storage or 2D Engraving equipment to avoid damage and ensure accurate engraving placement.
• Utilize tool room inspection equipment to identify or confirm zero defects to tooling prior to use.
• Confirm with Product Engineering correct tooling identifiers prior to engraving.
• Attend training functions, possibly including after work study and/or travel to obtain technology updates.
• Maintain a high attendance record.
• Abide by plant safety rules and promote safety awareness.
