About The Position

The Laser Assistant is responsible for operating and maintaining laser cutting machines to produce parts according to specifications. This role involves machine set-up, operation, quality control, and preventative maintenance. The position requires strong attention to detail, computer skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

No current lifting restrictions prohibiting lifting up to 50 pounds

Experience with precision gauges and instruments

Responsibilities

Perform machine start-up, warm-up, and shut down operations, including cleaning the cutting lens, aligning the nozzle, and performing a focus test.
Select, measure, assemble, and set machines using precision gauges and instruments.
Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on the machine.
Modify technology tables, perform import/call up programs, and edit, split, and store part programs.
Create nests/programs for laser machines.
Identify preventative maintenance points and perform necessary maintenance on laser cutting head components.
Determine specifications for tooling set-up, machine operation, and programming using blueprints and instructions.
Position and secure work pieces on the machine.
Calculate and set machine controls for tool positioning, synchronization, and cutting parameters.
Start automatic operation of numerical control machines and monitor for malfunctions.
Stop machines to remove finished work pieces or change tooling.
Retrieve raw material and move finished parts to subsequent work centers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
