About The Position

Access Laser Company is seeking a Laser Assembler to complement our Production Team by assembling some of the world’s most impactful application-specific laser products. This role involves working as part of a small, dedicated team to build, troubleshoot, and rework/repair electromechanical laser assemblies to production standards, ensuring all lasers meet the highest performance and quality standards. The position requires precision assembly of molecular gas excited lasers bodies according to instructions, drawings, and specifications, using various tools and instruments. Responsibilities include examining component parts for defects, measuring parts for conformance, reworking and retesting units, and performing quality work in a clean room and ESD controlled environment. The role also involves reporting updates to the production lead, using the ERP system for tracking, improving assembly processes, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, and assisting other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years’ experience in precision assembly in high tech manufacturing or a similar organization.
  • Good hands-on skills in building, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical assemblies.
  • Demonstrated ability to meticulously follow defined processes.
  • Technical ability to read and follow assembly instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Understanding of quality control principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be capable of using standard MS Office programs and working with our ERP system
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs on a routine basis with the ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs, up to 5ft above ground.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree or certificate from a technical school.
  • Previous job experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S concepts.
  • Experience with optics or electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a small, dedicated team to build, troubleshoot, and rework/repair electromechanical laser assemblies to production standards.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that all lasers meet the highest performance and quality standards.
  • Perform precision assembly of molecular gas excited lasers bodies, according to assembly instructions, drawings, and specifications, using hand tools, power tools, precision instruments, and test equipment.
  • Examine component parts for defects. Measure parts to ensure conformance to specified dimensions and lay out reference points for holes, trim lines, and part locations, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Rework, replace, realign parts, and retest units that initially fail first pass tests to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Perform quality work in a clean room and ESD controlled environment.
  • Regularly report updates and any issues to the production lead to ensure smooth operations and clear communication.
  • Use the ERP system to track jobs and production time.
  • Improve tooling, setup, and equipment related to the assembly process.
  • Contribute your expertise to continuous improvement and product improvement initiatives.
  • Assist other departments or teams when needed, demonstrating a collaborative and team-oriented mindset to help achieve the overall success of the company.
