Position Summary: We’re seeking an energetic, creative Language & Life Skills Instructor to deliver engaging English and Spanish language instruction to Minnesota Twins players and staff. Instructors may also support Latin American players with life skills and cultural integration. This seasonal, part-time role is based in Fort Myers and blends in-person and virtual teaching within a professional baseball environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; Bachelor's degree OR current college student with at least two years completed (education, linguistics, TESOL preferred).
  • Experience teaching language learners; able to deliver effective and dynamic 45-minute lessons.
  • Proficient with video conferencing, LMS, and digital assessment tools.
  • Availability: at least four 45-minute classes per week from start date through August; possible extension.
  • Main class windows (ET): 4:30-8:00 PM (Mon-Thu), 10:30 AM-3:00 PM (Tue-Fri), with the potential for additional time slots.
  • Classes, training, and development occur outside class windows.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Comfortable in a busy facility with various noise level.
  • Strong computer and teleconferencing skills; effective use of online platforms for instruction and documentation; ability to assist students with basic technical support.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in English and Spanish; bilingual candidates with the ability to teach without using the student's first language to explain the goal language are highly preferred.
  • ESL/TESOL certification or coursework.
  • Experience with TOEFL or similar adult proficiency testing.
  • Experience in sports or athlete development environments.
  • Familiarity with learner-centered frameworks (e.g., Quantum Learning) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver 45‑minute language lessons (in-person and/or virtual) that are learner-centered, practical, that include elements of baseball.
  • Collaborate with the Education team to support players and staff in their off-field development.
  • Provide timely feedback; document attendance and progress in the department learning management system (LMS).
  • Support and/or observe other instructors when scheduled; participate in training and staff meetings.
  • Foster a professional, supportive environment that encourages immersion, experimentation, and practical practice to strengthen on- and off-field communication.
