Requirements

Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda is mandatory; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
Exceptional consecutive interpretation skills with a proven track record of accurate and culturally appropriate communication.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for inclusivity and a desire to help others.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
Cultural sensitivity and a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse school community.
Willingness to undergo background checks and adhere to district policies and procedures.
Flexibility to work on-call, during school hours, and as needed to meet the district's interpretation requirements.
Basic computer skills for documentation, record-keeping, and efficient communication.

Previous experience in interpretation or a related field is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

Provide professional consecutive interpretation services in Kinyarwanda-English, ensuring accurate and culturally sensitive communication.
Build strong relationships with families, creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
Adapt to schedule changes and on-call duties, promptly responding to interpretation requests.
Facilitate seamless communication between families, students, and staff, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Assist with translating essential documents, ensuring equal access to information.
Attend meetings, conferences, and events to offer interpretation support, promoting inclusivity.
Collaborate with staff to address language-related challenges and create an inclusive learning environment.
Stay updated on district policies and procedures, ensuring accurate information dissemination to families.
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical interpretation practices at all times.
