Requirements

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Possession of a Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, supervises, guides, participates in, assists with, and assigns tasks related to the installation, maintenance, feeding, pruning, trimming, and watering of ornamental plants, trees, and shrubs.
  • Manually removes, installs, and maintains plant material in beds and containers, and relocates specimen trees and shrubs. Designs or assists in the design of landscaping beds.
  • Cleans and maintains fountains, lakes, and waterways.
  • Keeps gardens and green spaces clear of debris.
  • Operates and maintains machinery for loading, unloading, and transporting materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Sets up and removes props, scenery, and decorations for festivals and special events.
  • Installs, operates, and maintains sprinkler and irrigation systems, including winterization.
  • Performs winterization and startup of plumbing and water supply lines.
  • Monitors irrigation lines, records system performance, and identifies problems.
  • Maintains aesthetic quality and adequate clearances around rides, lighting, roadways, midways, signage, safety equipment, and other items.
  • Performs seasonal cleanup, including leaf removal and natural debris removal from gardens and waterways.
  • Maintains hardscape and related materials, including pressure washing, paver/retaining wall maintenance, and construction repairs and cleanup.
  • Works safely with and operates various power equipment such as mowers, edgers, string trimmers, tractors, and tillers.
  • Operates and maintains heavy machinery such as mowers, tractors, and trenchers.
  • Operates and maintains equipment including sprinklers, water lines, pumps, suction devices, valves, and other plumbing equipment.
  • Performs snow and ice removal and mitigation to ensure safe passage of roadways and walkways.
  • Maintains park grounds infrastructure, including benches and tables.
  • Assists with the control and removal of wild and feral animals.
  • Inspects premises to identify pest infestation sources and extent of damage.
  • Exterminates unwanted creatures using various techniques.
  • Sets up pest control methods such as barriers, mechanical traps, and poisonous paste or bait.
  • Ensures buildings are free from pests by maintaining structural integrity and occupant health and safety.
  • Determines treatment needed for pest elimination, cleans and removes blockages from infested areas, and cleans work sites after completion.
  • Communicates supply needs and assists with supply ordering.
  • Interacts with and communicates with supervisors, managers, staff, co-workers, guests, vendors, contractors, and inspectors.
  • Provides guest service according to Michigan's Adventure standards, including initiating interactions, answering questions, and giving directions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area, complies with safety guidelines, and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods.
  • Meets Michigan's Adventure's attendance requirements.
  • Adheres to Michigan's Adventure's code of conduct, including costuming and grooming standards.
  • Maintains required certifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including miscellaneous, unforeseen, or temporary tasks.
