About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Landscape Technician, the Landscape Technician plays a key role in maintaining, restoring, and enhancing landscapes across Opportunity Village-owned properties. This position supports the creation and maintenance of inviting outdoor spaces by promoting plant health, ensuring clean, safe environments, and contributing to landscape improvement projects that enrich the community. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in landscaping or groundskeeping.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of landscape maintenance and pest management practices.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, team members, and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Have a positive and enthusiastic outlook.
  • Self-directed, with strong ability to work independently, and to set and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to resolve multiple complex issues simultaneously while remaining calm in stressful situations.
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand others’ reactions and behaviors.
  • Ability to safely operate landscaping tools and equipment, including hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.
  • Ability to accept and apply performance-based feedback.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Perform landscape maintenance, restoration, and design activities across all assigned properties.
  • Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of grounds, including removing debris, trash, weeds, and dead vegetation.
  • Trim trees, hedges, and overgrown vegetation to ensure safe and visually appealing outdoor spaces.
  • Install, cultivate, and maintain functional and ornamental plants, including mulching and soil care.
  • Monitor plant health and ensure proper growth through watering, pruning, and general care practices.
  • Identify and treat pests, diseases, and other environmental concerns affecting vegetation.
  • Assist in the preservation and salvaging of native vegetation where applicable.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools, including hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on landscaping equipment as needed.
  • Perform manual labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles as required.
  • Collaborate with Events leadership to support landscape design and set up for special projects, including the Magical Forest.
  • Travel regularly to a variety of locations in the Las Vegas area and between Opportunity Village campuses.
  • Must be able to meet all requirements of OV vehicle policies and travel: Between worksite locations Within the community
  • Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) immediately as mandated by state law.
  • May be assigned other duties as needed.
