SUMMARY: The Landscape Technician is responsible for maintaining the Florida State Fairgrounds’ landscape and grounds to ensure a clean, attractive, and well-maintained environment. This position performs a variety of landscaping duties, including planting, tree trimming, fertilizing, weed and insect control, and the safe operation of grounds maintenance equipment.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of six months experience in lawn maintenance required.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Basic knowledge of proper operation of mechanical and powered equipment used in grounds maintenance
- Working knowledge of safety requirements involved with operation of required tools and equipment
- Ability to operate mechanical and powered equipment used in grounds maintenance
- Ability to work effectively with others
Nice To Haves
- Two or more years of experience highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supports a beautiful landscape environment by ensuring proper quality of care of plant life, including all planting, fertilizing, trimming of trees and hedging of shrubs, planting flower beds and setting up flowerbeds.
- Ensures a high level of grounds protection/policing by collecting, loading, hauling trash and cuttings.
- Operates manual and powered grounds keeping equipment while following all safety measures.
- Supports department by assisting in various landscaping projects.
- Performs grounds maintenance work including spraying for insects and weeds.
- Supports additional needs for any light housekeeping or custodial duties as necessary.
- Other additional related duties as required.
