About The Position

Southern Landscape Group is seeking an experienced Landscape Team Technician to join their team. This role assists the Team Leader by providing experienced help and performing landscape-related tasks at a basic to advanced level. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of horticultural practices and be able to operate a variety of equipment.

Requirements

  • A high school degree or GED
  • Two years of documented experience in the green industry
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use Apple technology for time tracking and job management
  • Great analytical problem solving and decision making ability
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with clients and professionals
  • Ability to use Google translate efficiently to communicate with Spanish speaking workers
  • Ability to drive truck & trailer combinations
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license with insurable driving record
  • VDACS Registered Tech Certification
  • CPR/First Aid Certification

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing job notes for clear understanding of scope of work to be performed on daily basis
  • Read, measure, and interpret landscape plans
  • Mix and apply various pesticides using proper PPE and application techniques
  • Perform landscape services including installation and maintenance of landscape beds, pruning, plant health identification and treatment, irrigation installation and minor repairs, low-voltage lighting installation and repair, drainage installation, grading, watering, plant installation, spring clean-ups, stepping stone and step installation, edging installation, and utility identification.
  • Operate small and medium duty tools and equipment such as compact track loaders, pressure washer, hedge trimmers, backpack blowers, bed edgers, re-definers, rototiller, pole saw, string trimmer, ladder, backpack sprayer, dump trailer/bed, mulching trailer, wheel loader, zip level, tape measure, cordless & hammer drill, sawzall, circular saw, voltage meter, plumb bob, level, and gas/electric water pumps.
  • Identify enhancement ideas to improve client property and report to team leader
  • Learn and maintain a working knowledge of all properties and responsibilities
  • Perform snow removal
  • Perform any other tasks necessary
  • Assist team leader with training and coaching a team of two or more team members
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient job site
  • Ensure truck/tools/equipment are properly maintained
  • Ensure daily tasks are completed on schedule and budget to quality standard
  • Return all tools to the shop at the end of a workday and tag any tools needing repairs
  • Maintain a neat and clean professional appearance
  • Work as a team member with a positive attitude
