About The Position

The Landscape Specialist position supports the operational, research, and extension functions of the School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences. This role is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of the School of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Human Sciences grounds and farms, including research plots and agricultural facilities. The position reports to the Farm Manager and plays a key role in ensuring that grounds and farm environments meet institutional and programmatic standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two (2) years of experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Edging grass and sidewalks to maintain clean and safe walkways
  • Mowing lawns and managing turf areas across campus facilities
  • Trimming hedges and pruning trees to promote plant health and aesthetics
  • Maintaining ornamental landscapes, including planting flowers, shrubs, and seasonal vegetation
  • Removing invasive grass and weeds from flower beds and landscaped areas
  • Providing general grounds upkeep for 1890 Research and Extension buildings
  • Assisting with maintenance of research plots, including preparation and upkeep
  • Supporting daily care of farm animals as needed for research and instructional purposes
