About The Position

This is an entry-level position suitable for students with basic foundational knowledge and little to no practical experience, ideal for freshmen or sophomores who have completed only introductory courses. The role involves maintaining the landscape, including tending to flowerbeds, pruning shrubs and trees, raking leaves, and keeping lagoons, drainage ditches, and culverts clear of obstructions. The position is part of the Facilities Management / Grounds department.

Requirements

  • Capable of full range body movement.
  • Lift items weighing up to 50-75 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Read, understand and communicate in English.
  • Read instructions and dilution for application of all herbicides and pesticides used at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
  • Must exemplify the university Honor Code, including the Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior landscape maintenance experience.
  • Must attach resume and current semester class schedule (weekly view).
  • Preference will be given to students who can work during academic breaks.

Responsibilities

  • Plants and tends flowerbeds.
  • Prunes shrubs and trees to enhance growth and appearance.
  • Rakes and removes fallen leaves.
  • Keeps lagoon clean, and drainage ditches and culverts free of obstructions.
