About The Position
Join a hands-on tree care crew as a Groundsperson. You’ll start assisting certified climbers and crews on site, learn tree work safety and techniques, and progress through a self-paced apprenticeship to become a certified professional tree climber at your own pace and with the assistance of crew leads.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 7 years of work experience in ANY FIELD, preferably outdoors
- Current, clean California Driver’s License
- Live within 30 minutes of Richmond, CA
- Physically fit and able to perform manual outdoor labor (lift, climb, stand for up to 8 hours per day)
- Work in direct sun, rain, hot and cold weather year-round
- Reliable personal transportation to the job site in Richmond
- Clean criminal background for past 10 years
- Fluent English
Nice To Haves
- Prior outdoor work experience (landscaping, arboriculture, construction, etc.)
- Bilingual English/Spanish, or enough “tree care Spanish” to work alongside a Spanish-only speaking crew
- Experience driving and backing up a large chipper truck while towing a trailer
Responsibilities
