The Landscape Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing daily landscape and hardscape installation activities while ensuring efficiency, quality workmanship, and adherence to company standards. Working under the direction of the Foreman/Forewoman and Superintendent, and in coordination with the Project Manager, this position leads and supports crew members in the successful completion of commercial and residential landscape construction projects. The Landscape Crew Leader is responsible for coordinating daily job site activities, providing direction and training to crew members, ensuring compliance with company safety standards, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. This role requires hands-on leadership, equipment operation, and a strong understanding of landscape installation practices and materials.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in landscape construction and crew supervision preferred.
  • Knowledge of landscape plants, materials, irrigation systems, and hardscape installation techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret landscape plans and specifications.
  • Experience operating landscape and construction equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Train crew members on the safe and proper operation of tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily work schedules with the Superintendent.
  • Obtain and review all necessary job files and project documentation before beginning work.
  • Complete and submit daily paperwork, including timesheets, field reports, T&M tickets, and accident reports.
  • Maintain accurate tool inventories and report equipment damage or repair needs.
  • Inspect, clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with company safety policies.
  • Enforce and support all company policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Project Manager in identifying additional service opportunities and upselling opportunities.
  • Monitor and maintain job site quality standards.
  • Communicate project progress, challenges, and updates with the Superintendent.
  • Plan and prepare materials, equipment, and work assignments for upcoming projects.
  • Evaluate crew member performance and assist with employee training and development.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively to maximize crew productivity.
  • Perform basic equipment repairs and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Lead by example, promoting teamwork, professionalism, and accountability.
