About The Position

Southern Landscape Group is seeking an experienced Landscape Care Team Technician to join their team. This role involves assisting the Landscape Care Team Leader in performing horticultural services on client properties. The technician will operate various equipment and possess knowledge of horticulture, lighting, water gardens, and irrigation. The company emphasizes team support, growth, and providing a high-quality work experience with a modern fleet and focus on safety.

Requirements

  • A high school degree or GED is required
  • Two years of documented experience in the green industry
  • Must have great verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to use Apple technology for time tracking and job management
  • Must have great analytical problem solving and decision making ability
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with clients and professionals
  • Ability to use Google translate efficiently to communicate with Spanish speaking workers
  • Assist team leader with training and coaching a team of two or more team members to help develop their skills & ensure team members receive proper training
  • Ability to drive truck & trailer combinations
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license with insurable driving record
  • VDACS Registered Tech Certification
  • CPR/First Aid Certification

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing job notes for clear understanding of scope of work to be performed on daily basis
  • Read, measure, and interpret landscape plans
  • Mix and apply various pesticides using proper PPE and application techniques
  • Perform landscape bed maintenance: spray and pull weeds
  • Perform pruning: horticulturally correct tree/shrub/perennial pruning and dead heading
  • Identify, diagnose, and treat plant health issues regarding diseases and insects
  • Perform minor irrigation repairs
  • Perform care & maintenance of pumps, aquatic plants, water chemistry, and fish
  • Repair and replace low-voltage lighting
  • Perform floral services: annual plant identification, bed preparation, proper plant installation, layout, care and maintenance
  • Perform spring clean-ups: bed cleanout, bed edging, pre-emergent, plant fertilization, and mulch installation
  • Use handheld or backpack blower to blow off all hard surfaces
  • Perform snow removal
  • Operate small and medium duty tools and equipment including hedge trimmers, backpack blowers, bed edgers, re-definers, rototiller, string trimmer, ladder, backpack sprayer, dump trailer/bed, mulching trailer, wheel loader, tape measure, plumb bob, level
  • Identify enhancement ideas to improve client property and submits to team leader
  • Learn and have a working knowledge of all properties, responsibilities and knows limits of work
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient job site and ensures truck/tools/equipment are properly maintained
  • Ensure daily tasks are completed on schedule and budget to quality standard
  • Responsible for all tools being returned to the shop at the end of a workday and tagging any tools needing repairs
  • Maintain a neat and clean professional appearance
  • Work as a team member throughout Southern Landscape Group with a positive attitude
