About The Position

DLR Group is seeking a Landscape Architecture Summer Intern to join their integrated design team. This role is part of the Emerging Professional Experience (EPX) Program, designed to provide interns with a meaningful introduction to life within an integrated design firm and a strong foundation for a career in the AEC industry. Interns will gain hands-on experience through project work, mentorship, and learning sessions covering various aspects of the design profession. The program combines mentorship, project work, and weekly learning sessions on topics such as design culture, sustainability, design technology, communication, marketing, project management, research, equity, and career development. The internship is a paid, full-time opportunity running from May 18 through August 6, 2027, and interns are expected to participate for the entire duration. This is an opportunity to apply classroom learning, build technical and professional skills, and contribute to design solutions that support the company's brand promise of Elevating the Human Experience through design.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture or Master of Landscape Architecture degree program.
  • Completed at least 3 years of design education prior to the start of the internship.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and LandFX.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must submit a current portfolio, preferably in PDF format.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SketchUp, Enscape, Rhino, or other design software.
  • Excellent visual, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Previous internship/commercial design experience.
  • Experience with Mural (visual collaboration software).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other design team members in the integrated design process for various projects.
  • Develop proficiency in primary design tools such as Revit, Land FX, Civil3D CAD, Enscape, Lumion, SketchUp, and proprietary DLR Group design tools and methods.
  • Create presentation materials using SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite to support design efforts.
  • Engage in project and site meetings to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Explore and gain a deeper understanding of construction documentation and processes.
