Requirements

  • Professional degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited college or university.
  • Five to ten years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification as Registered Landscape Architect licensed to practice in your state and able to become certified in other states as required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebraic functions and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowledge of Database software; Design software; Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead entitlements, zoning, and permitting efforts for development projects.
  • Conduct research, masterplanning, site planning, graphic production, presentations, public speaking, and meetings.
  • Oversee project execution through site planning and design, city and agency submissions, land development coordination, permitting, and client management from initial concept through implementation.
  • Provide project management including preparation of plans, scheduling, budgeting, projections, reports, billing, quality control, and progress in accordance with company policy/procedures, regulatory guidelines, and professional standards.
  • Lead the preparation of Planned Zoning District booklets, entitlement documentation, presentations, and all necessary materials for commercial and multi-family development projects.
  • Produce colored, rendered masterplans for new commercial and multi-family development projects.
  • Prepare project schedules, develop scope of work, draft contracts, and integrate design elements into unified plans for client review and approval.
  • Research and prepare proposals for clients.
  • Coordinate with Accounting to set up new projects and prepare invoices for clients.
  • Manage project schedules, staff utilization, and coordinate with Org. leader on progress.
  • Assist the client in negotiations with consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and vendors.
  • Oversee the construction administration of each project.
  • Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal departments.
  • Forecast workload assignments and allocate resources to develop projects.
  • Direct activities of landscape architects, landscape designers, associates, interns, and technicians engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents.
  • Prepare operational and regulatory reports as required by company policy and regulatory agencies and ensure all are submitted to meet deadlines.
  • Make business development calls or emails to existing and potential clients to assist in the company marketing effort.
  • Ensure visibility of the company through attendance at public meetings, participation in civic organizations, and participation in public service and charitable activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of project team members.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
